In my day to day life, I utilize Youtube as my primary source of entertainment. I have been religiously watching content on that platform ever since middle school, and it has helped me learn about pop culture, beauty and lifestyle tips, and more. As embarrassing as this may sound, I remember my young middle school self looking up a video on YouTube of how to get rid of my acne. I found a video posted by a creator named Cassandra Bankson, and little did my 12-year old self realize I would have found one of my favorite beauty influencers to watch on the platform.
I solely give credit to Cassandra for helping me not only take care of my skin but learn so many aspects about my health during that time period. She is, in my opinion, one of the most influential people on YouTube when it comes to skincare because her posts are raw and unfiltered which makes it seem so much more genuine. Cassandra would post her “flaws” online and be a role model to so many people on how to be comfortable with your skin and imperfections.
A couple of days ago, I discovered she had a blog and decided to read some of her posts. Her blogs not only cover skin care, but food recipes, modeling tips, and much more! One in particular that was intriguing to me was titled “5 SKINCARE MISTAKES YOUTUBERS AND INFLUENCERS MAKE” (she made this blog entry into a YouTube video as well).
This blog post and video discusses the incorrect approaches influencers and YouTubers make when talking about skincare, and how we as consumers can spot the differences of right and wrong claims made in the media.
Cassandra Bankson is an absolute beautiful person inside and out and is super entertaining to watch! I would definitely recommend watching her YouTube channel and reading her blog :).
