In America today, the beauty brand Morphe is one of the largest mass makeup brands due to their appealing eyeshadow palettes, wide range of affordable makeup, and most importantly, their marketing strategies with beauty influencers on YouTube. A vast amount of YouTube content creators have helped Morphe receive more commission by promoting their “Morphe code” in their videos to help their customers save money off on an order. Ultimately, this strategy helps the brand gain more recognition and boost sales overall.
Although highly influential people are promoting this brand, are these opinions and reviews deemed credible? What we know is that these influencers get a form of commission from others using their code affiliated with Morphe, but an area to investigate is if these YouTuber’s truly like the product they are advertising or if it is all just for a personal financial gain.
Throughout the beauty community, there are thousands of reviews and opinions posted in blogs and videos about this brand. Obviously, Morphe-endorsed influencers talk the most highly of this brand, but there is a handful of other content creators that have opposing standpoints. Many Morphe-affiliated influencers like to say that their products are “drugstore prices with high end quality” whereas a numerous amount of non-endorsed individuals will say that the quality of their eyeshadows is patchy, hard to blend, and overall not worth the money.
In my opinion, I believe it varies from product to product. I have tried multiple Morphe eyeshadow palettes and can truthfully say that I love some of their eyeshadow palettes. For example, the Jaclyn Hill collaboration palette has a wide variety of wearable colors and amazing quality, whereas the James Charles collaboration palette has brighter-toned, harder to blend colors. Even though I am not a fan of the color variation of the James Charles palette, I noticed that the eyeshadows would stain my eyelids and be difficult to remove, which never occurred with the Jaclyn Hill palette.
Overall, I think it is a little gimmicky how influencers say the formula of Morphe products is comparable to more luxurious brands because it sets false expectations to consumers. Although I like some of the brand’s products and think they’re worthwhile, I have tried cheaper and more expensive eyeshadow palettes that have way better quality than my Morphe eyeshadow palettes. I believe that Morphe has some amazing affordable products out on the market, but there is still room for improvement. My overall consensus of the brand is that in most cases when purchasing a Morphe product, you are getting what you pay for.
